Tactile quilts which stimulate, delight, soothe and provide a foundation for creative play.

About

These small quilts are designed for use by early childhood educators, therapists and special development schools

They are free for you to create, adapt, use and share as you wish, in the hope their benefits can be shared as widely as possible (I choose to donate my quilts to a variety of special schools and pre-schools). The instructions are written for quilters with some experience and are a guide only, as anything and everything can be changed.

I am Fiona Gavens, a quilter and textile designer, and I have been developing these quilts in consultation with Clare Green, retired early childhood educator, and Kate Morgan, early childhood educator and speech-language therapist.  Deb Morris, textile designer, assists with website and styling.

“These quilts are wonderful open-ended resources where imagination is the only limit! They can promote all sorts of discussion and vocabulary around textures, sounds, visuals, object permanence and more – plus opportunities for problem-solving and creativity in how to use each quilt. The options are endless and they could be a real boon in the therapeutic setting, and for young children generally.”  Kate Morgan
